Educational Meeting with School Students on “Why Do We Pay Taxes?”

An educational meeting with school students on the topic “Why Do We Pay Taxes?” was held at School No. 67 named after Yeghishe Charents, initiated by the SRC Training Center of the Republic of Armenia.

During the meeting, students discussed what taxes are, why paying them is important, and what role they play in the development of the state and the welfare of society. Participants actively engaged in the discussions, shared their opinions, and responded to the questions.

An interactive presentation in a Q&A format was then delivered, making the topic more accessible and engaging. It also demonstrated how tax revenues are allocated across key public sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, defense, and others.

One of the key components of the meeting was the group work: students were divided into teams and, through collaborative discussions, decided how to allocate public budget funds and determine spending priorities. This approach helped develop their analytical thinking, teamwork skills, and a sense of responsibility toward paying taxes.

The meeting was held in an active and productive atmosphere, contributing to the improvement of students’ financial literacy and the formationof responsible civic thinking.

Such initiatives are vital for raising financial awareness and nurturing responsible citizens from a young age.
