Training on “Operation and Maintenance of Radiation Control Equipment”

In the modern world, driven by the need to ensure economic and physical security, the RA SRC Training Center, in colaboration with leading industry specialists, regularly organizes training sessions on radiation control procedures for cargo, vehicles, and individuals crossing the RA customs border.

In practice, radioactive materials cannot be detected by human senses; they are only recorded through the use of appropriate monitoring devices. Therefore, practical exercises are an essential component of such trainings. Equipped with the necessary technical resources, the RA SRC Training Center serves as a platform where courses are conducted using both theoretical and practical methods.

Specifically, on May 30–31, a training on “Operation and Maintenance of Radiation Control Equipment” was delivered by leading specialists Artak Galstyan, Head of the Monitoring Department of Technical Means of Customs Control, and Hakob Galstyan, Deputy Head of the same department. The session was designed for junior customs officers from the RA SRC Departments of E-Commerce and Air Transport Operations and the Customs Service and Control at State Border Land Checkpoints.

Following the theoretical component, participants carried out practical exercises; after a signal from a stationary radiation control device indicating a simulated offender, they were required to locate low-intensity sources provided for educational purposes, performd the necessary measurements, and prepare the relevant reports.

Training sessions aimed at developing the skills of SRC employees for the target group will be continuous.
